A national program for college-preparatory students who are interested in the banking, finance, or business profession.  It is a pathway that is demanding and students MUST be approved by the Business Department in order to be accepted into this prestigious organization.  Meeting times and location are to be determined. Contact Ms. Nancy Cohen in Room 803 for more information.

This club is a nationally recognized organization which encourages positive values, strong relationships and winning attitudes.  The club is open to all students.  Meetings are Thursdays at 6:45 a.m. in the small gymnasium.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

This club is open to anyone who wants to prepare for a business career and develop excellent leadership skills.  Major activities include operating the Patriot Pub, operating a new school store, and competitions in various aspects of business and leadership. Anyone enrolled in a business or college-prep class is encouraged to join.  Meetings are held every other Thursday, 2:30-3:20 p.m. 
 
Future Doctors of America

This club is directed towards exploring the world of medicine and the outside factors that effect it. Activities include: forum on pressing medical issues, guest speakers, medical trivia games, watching medical videos and television shows, and visiting hospitals.

Junior State of America

Sponsored by Mr. Nelson, this group gathers every Tuesday to discuss current affairs and practice oral arguments supporting various viewpoints.  Students hope to participate in a national convention this year, offering arguments which could potentially influence national legislation.

This club is community-oriented with a focus on community service. Activities include tutoring elementary and middle school childresn. Meetings are held on Mondays at 2:30 p.m.
 
Literary Magazine

The staff of the Aurora meet on Fridays from 2:30-3:30p.m. Staff solicit submissions of poetry, photography, creative writing and other artistic work for compilation and publishing in the spring of each year.

A national club which increases teen awareness, provides community service opportunities, and raises funds in the fight against breast cancer.
 
Student Government Association

The Student government focuses on promoting, organizing, and facilitating school events such as Homecoming and the blood drive, as well as various other activities.  Students who are elected into this association will learn valuable leadership and problem solving skills.  
 
Tech Crew

This group is trained to operate the lighting and sound equipment in the Mary Harrison Center and is responsible for attending events throughout the year. 
 
Theatre

Productions take place in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.  Selection for cast and crew is based on audition.
       
 
COURSE AFFILIATED ACTIVITIES
Marching Band

This group is open to ALL STUDENTS.  Students practice daily and perform at athletic events.

Indoor Guard - This group is an extension of the color guard from marching band.  The indoor guard unit practices spinning and dance and competes against other high school indoor guard units.  For competitions, members learn a routine (similar to a dance team) mixed with spinning rifles, sabers and flags

Indoor Percussion - This group is an extension of the outdoor drum line.  They use the same instruments as well as the pit instruments from the marching band.  Indoor percussion travels with the indoor guard unit to other high schools and competes against other indoor units.

This class meets one period each day and is offered for four years.  The program requires textbook study, physical training, and an opportunity for after-school activities and field trips.  Activities that are available to NJROTC cadets include: softball, basketball, drill, academic, and athletic competitions at the national level.

Prepares students to select appropriate courses available to them to best prepare them for entrance into colleges and universities specializing in engineering.  Provides engineering experiences and participates in competitions with students from other high schools within the state.  Also provides mentoring and tutoring in math and science. 

 
Newspaper

These students have successfully completed Journalism in grades 10, 11, or 12, and are currently enrolled in Journalism II: Newspaper.  The class produces a monthly issue of the Patriot Press.
 
Physics & Engineering Team

This club is open to all students enrolled in Physics or AP Chemistry, or have taken these classes in previous years.  A club member recommendation may also lead to membership.  The club is designed to prepare teams of students to participate in Physics Competitions. Major event is Physics Olympics.  Meeting time TBA. Please come join us!
 
String Ensemble

These students take String Ensemble and perform at various events throughout the year. Practice in the bandroom.
 
WNHS (Broadcast)

These students have completed Journalism, Speech or Theatre I or have the permission of the instructor, and are currently enrolled in Journalism II: Broadcasting.  The class produces WNHS, a daily television show of announcements, news and sports broadcast throughout the school.
 
Yearbook

These students have successfully completed Journalism in grades 10 or 11, or have permission of the instructor, and are currently enrolled in Journalism II: Yearbook.  The class produces the Patriot Images yearbook each school year. 
       
 
HONOR ORGANIZATIONS
National Art Honor Society

Students who have a full credit in art must be recommended by their art teacher based on consistent and outstanding character, service, scholarship, talent and dedication.  Students must maintain a cumulative Art GPA of 87.5% and a cumulative GPA of 80% in other classes.  Meeting times and location are to be determined.
 
National Honor Society

Membership is based on evidence of superior scholarship, good character, leadership and service to the school and/or community.  Students with a cumulative GPA of 87.5% are academically eligible for membership consideration.  Applications for eligible juniors and seniors are reviewed each autumn.  Once accepted into the society, community service is required of all members.
